In around 1505, Magellan was in a Portuguese fleet headed for East Africa. In this fleet, Magellan ended up in the Battle of Diu. This was when the Portuguese were destrroying Egyptian ships in the Arabian Sea. The fleet also explored Malacca, which is located in present-day Malaysia. It is possible the fleet sailed as far as the Spice Islands. While serving in Morocco, Magellan was wounded in the leg and walked with a limp the rest of his life.
